I live in Calgary. I have not tried to Rogers and Shaw. I can not comment on its quality, but I think their services are too expensive.
I am a big fan of VoIP use for me. In my research of a low cost of VoIP services, which was not in a position to a Canadian VoIP service that seemed to be found. In the end, I signed the United States with two services to VoIP-based.
I Inphonex as my primary phone service because they offer 911 Service in Canada. I also have a telephone number with Call Centric seconds, but not 911 for Canada, as Inphonex. (you can find links) in my profile.
